Ana de Armas’ rise to the top of Hollywood continued over the weekend as the 34-year-old Cuban actress hosted Saturday Night Live for the very first time over the weekend.
During her opening monologue, de Armas detailed how she learned English when she first came to America: by watching the sitcom Friends.
“I was 26 and I learned English the way everyone who comes to this country does — by watching Friends,” de Armas said during her opening monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live over the weekend.
“Who would have thought that the best English tutor would be Chandler Bing?” de Armas asked before doing an impression of Matthew Perry’s famed Friends character. “I mean, look at me now. Could I be any better at English?”
In Wars Dogs, one of her first American film roles, de Armas famously didn’t know English yet and delivered her lines by simply memorizing them phonetically.
Since her early days in Hollywood, de Armas has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, starring in films such as Blade Runner 2049, Hands of Stone, Knock Knock, Knives Out, No Time To Die, The Gray Man, and Blonde, Deep Water.
Later this month, de Armas will be starring in the AppleTV+ film Ghosted alongside Chris Evans, which release on Friday, April 21. The Academy Award nominee is also set to star in the John Wick spin-off film Ballerina, which is set to hit theaters next summer.
