The Super Mario Bros. Movie held its world premiere weekend, bringing together its star-studded cast that includes the likes of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Keegan Michael-Key, and the stunning Anya Taylor-Joy.
Clearly enjoying herself at the film’s premiere, Taylor-Joy — who voices Princess Peach in the likely soon-to-be franchise — showed up in a pink tracksuit that was inspired by her iconic Mario character.

“I’m really proud to be a part of this, and I’m proud to be a part of… Peach is an empowered woman,” Taylor-Joy said of her performance during a recent interview on the Total Film podcast.
“And if you think about it – and this is when I get really nerdy – if you think about the storyline, it makes more sense that she’s strong and in control, because she is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. And that’s not an easy job. So if she was constantly being plucked out of her castle, she wouldn’t be very good at ruling, would she?”
Taylor-Joy has certainly been busy in recent years, and as a result, she’s rocketed to the top of the list of Hollywood’s A-list actresses thanks to projects such as The Queen’s Gambit, Last Night in Soho, The Northman, The Menu, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
In the coming years, she’s also set to take over as Furiosa in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel (which also features Chris Hemsworth as the primary antagonist) and is signed on to star alongside Miles Teller and Sigourney Weaver in Scott Derrickson’s romantic action adventure The Gorge.
Prior to her recent breakout roles, Taylor-Joy was best known for starring in Robert Eggers’ The Witch, M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and Glass, the indie drama Thoroughbreds (which also starred House of the Dragon breakout Olivia Cooke), the period rom-com Emma, the infamously disastrous X-Men spinoff The New Mutants, and the hit Netflix/BBC series Peaky Blinders.
As for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it will hit theaters in the United States on Wednesday, April 5.
