Disgraced former actor Armie Hammer made a rare public appearance this weekend as he sat down for an interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast.
Armie Hammer, who hasn’t appeared in a movie in over two years since 2022’s Death on the Nile (which was actually filmed in 2019), spoke with Maher for over 90 minutes and discussed the “brutal experience” of his career after numerous disturbing allegations were made against him in January 2021 following the publication of leaked messages purportedly from Hammer that graphic sexual fantasies including cannibalism and violent acts.
Hammer, in response to a Bill Maher joke about them looking alike, starts the interview by making a crack about him being canceled.
“You know, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that [we look alike], I wouldn’t even care if I was canceled,” Hammer sarcastically said.
Maher, with the subtlety of a drunk rhino, then says to Hammer that he’s heard he’s broke now. Hammer confirms that his broke, but says despite being careerless and broke, he’s “never been happier in his entire life.”
As a reminder, Hammer was accused of (but never formally charged with) sexual misconduct, cannibalistic fetishes, abuse and coercion, by multiple women, while also being accused of rape by a woman identified only as “Effie” in 2021.
The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the claims made by Effie but decided not to file charges due to a lack of evidence (Effie alleged the incident occurred in 2017).
“As prosecutors, we have an ethical responsibility to only charge cases that we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt,” a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. “We know that it is hard for women to report sexual assault. Even when we cannot move forward with a prosecution, our victim service representatives will be available to those who seek our victim support services.”
It certainly didn’t take Hollywood long to replace Hammer, as the 37-year-old tall, blonde-hair, blue-eyed Texan movie star has been replaced by 35-year-old tall, blonde-hair, blue-eyed Texan movie star Glen Powell.
