Beloved ‘Baby Yoda’ Rumored To Grow Into ‘Kid Yoda’, Will Appear In Future ‘Star Wars’ Movies

Ever since The Mandalorian‘s first episode premiered on Disney+ on November 12, it’s been hard to go anywhere on the internet — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you name it — without seeing Baby Yoda.

Warning: spoilers for The Mandalorian will follow.

The big twist at the end of the series’ pilot, Baby Yoda became an instant internet sensation and subsequent meme due to its frankly overwhelming cuteness.

While Disney obviously knew what they were doing by introducing a “Baby Yoda” (which, to be clear, it’s not literally Baby Yoda, but merely the moniker the internet has given it due to the fact that Yoda’s species is currently unnamed), it’s hard to imagine that they knew the character was going to be this much of a cultural phenomenon.

Either way, knowing they’ve (once again) struck gold, Disney has no plans to abandon the character anytime soon, as recent rumors indicate “The Child” –as it’s officially called in the show — will be a staple of the Star Wars universe for the foreseeable future.

Having chanced upon a good thing, they’re not about to let it slide, as our sources are telling us that Baby Yoda will continue to appear in Star Wars beyond The Mandalorian. In fact, he’ll soon become Kid Yoda and show up in future films to help the heroes.

It’s unclear as yet which movies he might appear in or who he’ll interact with, but given that this intel comes to us from the same sources who told us Ewan McGregor was returning as Obi-Wan back in May and who revealed the Palpatine twist in Rise which has since been confirmed, there’s no reason to doubt it. Editor’s Note: We Got This Covered reported on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series months before the show was officially announced.

Prior to the release of The Mandalorian, showrunner Jon Favreau and Disney assured fans that the series would have galaxy-wide implications, which is a promise they’ve certainly delivered on. With Baby Yoda being as powerful as it is, it should come as no surprise that Disney has plans for the instantly beloved character to be integral to the franchise in the future.

Plus, Disney would literally never murder a child, especially in a property as popular as Star Wars. So, if whether you love him or hate him, get used to Baby Yoda because he’s going to be around for a while.
