Border Patrol Seizes $575K Worth Of Counterfeit Goods Including A Bunch Of Knockoff Crocs

CBP Seizes Counterfeit Products Valued at Over Half a Million Dollars

US Customs and Border Protection

Working in border security in any country has to be a very interesting job. Just in America, the amount of drugs and counterfeit items people try to smuggle across the border is truly astounding.

The smugglers will try just about anything to get one over on Customs and Border Protection. They’ve tried hiding the goods inside shipments of cucumbers and bell peppers, inside old Ford vehicles, and even filled tequila bottles with nearly 10 tons of concentrated liquid meth.

And then there are people like the guy in China who tried to smuggle live snakes hidden inside his pants into the country.

This week, United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers once again snagged someone trying to sneak counterfeit items into the country.

CBP officers at the Port of Rochester seized a wide variety of designer items bearing counterfeit trademarks, including handbags, wallets, clothing, watches, sneakers, cosmetics, beauty supplies and dietary supplements.

Had these items been real, the total Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price value would have been around $575,000, according to a CBP press release.

The beauty supplies and dietary supplements were also in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and could have been a serious health threat to potential consumers.

“Our CBP officers diligently work to protect honest and hardworking legitimate businesses by targeting and intercepting these fraudulent items,” said Rochester Port Director Ronald Menz. “We continue to protect our community and the consumer from these unregulated counterfeit items that could potentially cause severe health issues.”

It has been quite a week for CBP officers in the state of New York.

On top of the counterfeit designer items, beauty supplies and dietary supplements, they also seized fake FIFA commemorative medal coins. Last week, they confiscated some fake Olympic medals.

Last month, they seized a bunch of counterfeit NFL Superbowl, NBA Championship and MLB World Series rings, as well as numerous counterfeit high-end items including a watch that, if it were real, would have been worth more than a million dollars.
