What do you call the orange residue you get on your fingers after eating Cheetos? You obviously call it “Cheeto dust.” Right? Cheeto dust and maybe “Cheetos fingers,” but Cheeto dust is the preferred designation. Not so fast, says Cheetos.
Frito-Lay has announced that the proper term for the orange powder on your fingers is called “Cheetle.” What? Cheetle? No. I reject this. It is called Cheeto dust.
This is Cheeto dust.

But when you say “Cheetle,” this is all I think of…

Saying “I’ve got Cheetle all over my fingers” sounds a little weird if you’re familiar with the Hollywood actor.
It is true. The Cheetos mascot Chester the Cheetah confirmed the Cheetle name on Twitter when responding to a Dictionary.com tweet that was an advertisement for the popular snack food.

“Cheetle is the brand name for the powdery residue that gets on your fingertips while eating the savory cheese snack, Cheetos,” according to Dictionary.com.
Apparently, Chester Cheetah has been calling the orange residue “Cheetle” since at least 2015.

Cheetos, which were first released in 1948, saw the first use of “Cheedle” by comedian Rich Hall in the 1980s.
Cheeto dust can be a problem as you’re afraid to stain anything with your cheesy fingers.

If you don’t enjoy licking off the Cheetle from your fingers, may we suggest chopsticks?

This comes at the same time Frito-Lay introduced Cheetos popcorn that has been “infused with Cheetle.” The Cheetos popcorn will be available nationwide in both Cheddar and Flamin’ Hot flavors.
“We’ve seen the way Cheetos lovers don their red- and orange-dusted fingers like a badge of honor and we’re always looking for ways to help them step up their snacking game,” said Brandi Ray, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America. “The only way to truly take popcorn to the next level is to add the iconic Cheetle, the cheesy dust that will entice Cheetos fans to snack on this popcorn all year long.”
Frito-Lay purchased two Super Bowl 2020 commercials, possibly to promote the Cheetos popcorn or maybe the new flavors for Doritos including Flamin’ Hot Limon and its updated Cool Ranch.
