Wide Eye Releasing
Ever wonder what would happen if you combined movies like Sharknado and Killer Klowns from Outer Space? Of course you don’t. Luckily for us, there are people out there who do think like that and we end up with films like the upcoming horror movie Clownado.
“The goal with Clownado was to make a damned good, scary and splatter-filled, nonstop roller coaster ride,” explained director Todd Sheets. “It’s something new, fresh, original and unique but also familiar. Using only practical special makeup effects and old school styled visual effects, Clownado has the vibe of classic lorror movies we love.”
According to the Clownado Facebook page, “It is a horror film, and it is going to be over the top. Think Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Bad Taste and Texas Chainsaw Massacre if Lucio Fulci was directing, all mixed in a swirling storm of insanity! Now add in the cinematic visual style known as NOIR…. intense composition with shadow and light…. and a bit of that incredible John Carpenter suspense (John was also influenced by Noir classics)… It is our intent to make a kick ass movie with scares and gore and a damned good script. Something very original and something you have never seen before.”
“A swirling storm of insanity…” Now I have to watch it.
As for the plot, how does this sound? Cursed demonic circus clowns set out on a vengeful massacre using tornadoes. A stripper, Elvis impersonator, truck driver, teen runaway, and a dude get caught in the supernatural battle between the femme fatale and the boss clown from hell.
Doooooope.
The film stars Linnea Quigley (Return of the Living Dead), John O’Hara, Rachel Lagen, Eileen Dietz, and Joel D. Wynkoop, and is written and directed by Todd Sheets (Zombie Rampage 2, Ouija Death Trap).
Clownado is scheduled for release sometime this summer.
