Talk about your major buzzkills. Imagine be the children of James Bond, AKA Daniel Craig, and finding out that he doesn’t believe in leaving his massive wealth to them when he dies.
Because that’s exactly what the 52-year-old actor said recently in an interview with Saga magazine.
“I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful,” said Craig. “My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go.”
Hmmm… I know a few hundred thousand people who could really use a little extra cash right about now. You know, since he just wants to give it all away instead of leaving it to his daughter from his first marriage, Ella, who is in her twenties, and his two-year old daughter and 13-year-old stepson with his current wife actress Rachel Weisz.
Let’s see… $140 million… divided by, say, $10,000… would be 14,000 people. Or, we could go with $1,000 each and give it away to 140,000 people. Not sure which is better. But I digress.
Other celebrities with massive bank accounts whose kids also must hate them because their famous parent also says they aren’t leaving their money to them include Gordon Ramsey, who won’t even give his kids a job, Elton John, George Lucas, Jackie Chan, Marie Osmond, Simon Cowell, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates, who said, “It’s not a favor to kids to have them have huge sums of wealth. It distorts anything they might do, creating their own path.”
Orrr… they could just be obscenely wealthy without having to do a damn thing. I’m more of the latter type of parent, I guess.
