Video from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter shows hundreds of people blocking traffic as they gathered around a car on a busy Daytona Beach street.
The helicopter appeared to be assisting the Daytona Beach Police Department with crowd control near Ocean Walk Saturday.
Police believe the crowd that shut down traffic in the city was part of an unofficial event shared on social media.
“Traffic is completely shut down with probably 200 people in the middle of the road,” a voice from the helicopter said over radio. “Trying to figure out what’s going on. It’s people, looks like they’re climbing on top of a car.”
In another video from Twitter user Talen Roberts a fight broke out inside the boardwalk during the day.
