Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs once said that his relationship with Jennifer Lopez put him into therapy. Diddy made the comment in an interview that’s been resurfaced in the wake of his September arrest and indictment.
According to reports, Diddy — who was arrested in September on federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution — told Playboy Magazine many years ago that his relationship with Jennifer Lopez made him seek out therapy.
Lopez and Diddy previously dated from 1999 to 2001. Lopez has yet to make a public comment on Diddy following his arrest.
“I’ve gone to therapy for relationships I’ve been in, for tragedies I’ve been through. I think therapy is good,” Diddy once told Playboy Magazine.
“I’ve been called bipolar – I’m not; I just have very drastic mood swings. I went to therapy when B.I.G. died, but a lot of my therapy has been with love and relationships,” Diddy explained. “I’ve had therapy about my relationship with Kim [Porter], about my relationship with Jennifer. Therapy helped me through a lot of those situations.”
Diddy, who is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he waits for his trial to begin in May, has pled not guilty to the charges filed against him. If convicted, the disgraced rapper and producer faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
While Lopez has been questioned about Diddy by paparazzi, the 55-year-old pop star and actress ignored the questions on multiple occasions. According to reports, Lopez is “on the run” from answering any questions about Diddy and even harbors concerns about being called to testify.
Even prior to Diddy’s arrest, Lopez had already spent much of 2024 in the headlines due to her highly-publicized divorce from Ben Affleck, which became official in late August. The pair, who first began dating shortly after Diddy and Lopez broke up, rekindled their romance in the 2020s and got married in July 2022.
