Sunday night’s episode of Euphoria was INTENSE. The opening scene of ‘Stand Still Like A Hummingbird’ (S02E05) was amongst the heaviest moments in the show’s two seasons. It was arguably amongst the best look at the realities of addiction that’s ever been shown on television.

The episode follows the show’s protagonist, Rue Bennett (played by Zendaya), grappling with addiction and withdrawal after her girlfriend Jules outs Rue to Rue’s mother as using drugs again. We see the addict say the most hurtful possible things to try and destroy the people she loves the most. She oscillates between wanting and needing help and trying to destroy everything in her way on the path to more drugs.

Rue destroyed her relationship with her sister, her girlfriend, her mother, and she outed Cassie for hooking up with Nate Jacobs behind Maddy’s back. The episode culminated with Rue outrunning the police and then turning up at the new drug dealer’s house looking for any sort of fix she could get her hands on. She then uses needles to inject drugs for her first time and in the next scene it appears as if things are going to get drastically worse for Rue until she escapes through a window and runs home to her mother.

It’s simply wild that Rue outing Cassie for sleeping with Maddy’s boyfriend was just a blip on the radar in this episode because Rue was a freight train of destruction. She caused car accidents, burglarized a house, broke property running from the police, kicked holes in doors, and burned everyone in her life.

Pro-tip: if you’re running from the police, your family, and everyone else. Don’t go to a drug dealer’s house when that person previously threatened to sell you to bad people if you wronged her.
