First we had Batfleck. And now we’re getting… Patman? Interesting choice, Warner Bros. and DC Comics.
Almost no one was thrilled back when Ben Affleck was chosen to play Batman, and it showed with the audience reactions to Batman V Superman and Justice League. (Clooney warned him!)
Now comes news that the top choice to replace Affleck under the cowl is the man best known for playing Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, Robert Pattinson.
The first report of the news came from Variety who initally stated that Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne was a done deal, but that has since been walked back a little and Nicholas Hoult, who plays Beast in the X-Men films, is supposedly also still in the mix.

While a report declared that Twilight Saga star Rob Pattinson had been set for The Batman, Deadline hears that the filmmaker and Warner Bros haven’t gotten to that place yet. Pattinson is on a short list but so is Nicholas Hoult, who stars in Tolkien and is about to open in the X-Men: First Class film Dark Phoenix.
Variety reports that pre-production on The Batman is expected to start this summer with a scheduled release date of June 25, 2021, so we should get final word on this casting in pretty short order.
As one might expect, word of Pattinson potentially becoming the next Dark Knight was… mixed.
