The list of 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees was revealed on Wednesday with names like Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Pat Benetar, Duran Duran, and Eminem headlining this year’s class. For me, the biggest shocker is the fact that Dolly Parton wasn’t already inducted into the Hall of Fame years ago but it’s great to see her getting credit.
For many Eminem fans, it came as no shock that he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as he’s had a HoF-worthy career. After this year’s inductees were announced, Twitter was flooded with shows of support for the Detroit rapper who has sold over 220 million albums worldwide.
Of course, there were some haters on Twitter. There are many people who believe that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame needs to rename itself to just the Music Hall of Fame or even the American Music Hall of Fame as it’s located in Cleveland. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the first rappers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2007. So it’s not as if inducting artists of genres outside of Rock is new but it still gets people talking every year.

As for Dolly Parton, CBS News reports that she tried to remove herself from contention for the Hall of Fame because she didn’t want votes to be split because of her. They didn’t remove her and she’s now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Eminem this year.
