I think it’s safe to say that ‘trivia’ as a skill contest is currently living in a Golden Age. This is primarily thanks to the rise of smartphone apps that enable people to play for free each day in contests to win real cash. Until now, in order to win $$$ at trivia, you either needed to get on Jeopardy! or show up at your local pub on an off night (like Monday) and compete against other bar patrons…until now.
You might remember my colleague Garrett writing about FleetWit a while back but I wanted to revisit this app because lately I’ve been hooked. Full disclosure: FleetWit did send me a handful of credits in order to test out their app so I could play the pay-to-play games, but I wasn’t paid for this article and BroBible isn’t making any money whatsoever off of repping FleetWit, I just wanted to share it with you all because I’m hooked.
For whatever reason, I’ve got one of those brains that absorbs mostly useless trivia knowledge and stores it away for a rainy day. I can meet someone face-to-face and forget their name within 10 seconds but for some reason unbeknownst to me I can still tell you the names of all 9 Muses in Greek mythology even though I learned that in the 11th grade and haven’t ever, at any point in life, been called upon to use that information. This is one of the reasons I’m hooked on FleetWit, I can actually win a few bucks each day with a wide breadth of (formerly) useless knowledge.
As I mentioned in the headline, FleetWit is being repped by San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman and Jeopardy! record-holder Ken Jennings…Interestingly, you can even find them on the app and challenge them to compete.
The format is generally the same but with slight nuances. You can challenge individuals or play in larger tournaments with hundreds of people. You can pay anywhere from 0 credits (free roll) to 4 credits (on average) to enter a contest, and you can compete in contests with buy-ins of up to 400 credits that pay out hundreds of dollars. Some questions have multiple choice answers and other questions you are prompted to type in the answer. You can keep choosing until you pick the correct answer but you’ll lose 100 out of a total 1000 points for each wrong answer. This means if there are 4 multiple choice answers and you guess wrong 3 times before getting it right you’ll be rewarded 700 points. But, the faster you answer a question the more likely you are to win because FleetWit uses a time bonus to calculate your final score.

What got me hooked on FleetWit:
— Unlike the other popular trivia app in the IOS app store, with FleetWit you can play all day long and you can win real money all day long. If I want to play at 7:30pm I can just hop on and play, I don’t have to sit around all day and wait for games with pre-determined times.
— There are multiple freerolls each day where you can enter for free and win actual cash. You can choose to get paid out in $ or in gift cards, it’s up to you.
— You can play against random strangers in disciplines of your choosing or you can challenge someone directly. For instance, you can square off against a complete stranger in Harry Potter or World Cup trivia, or you can challenge someone you know.
You can get started by visiting FleetWit.com and playing on their web portal or you can download the iPhone app (I prefer this medium) and playing that way.
