Being a server isn’t easy. You’re on your feet all shift, juggling multiple tables, keeping up with kitchen delays—always with a smile. And yet, your pay often hinges on tips, which can be wildly inconsistent.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median hourly wage for servers (including tips) was $16.23 in May 2024—but that figure hides a lot of variation, including many workers earning as little as minimum wage or just above it.
On top of that, they regularly face rude customers, unrealistic expectations, and the occasional messy confrontation.
One Florida server recently shared the smaller, everyday annoyances that get under her skin—what she calls her biggest “icks” from customers. Commenters didn’t take it well.
Server Shares Her List Of Icks
TikTok creator Kiley (@kileysamfit) posted a video listing what she called her biggest “icks” from customers. Her clip has been viewed more than 86,400 times.
“These are the icks I get as a server that customers give me,” she says, before diving into her list.
Her first gripe is people who cut her off before she can even introduce herself. She says,“I’m like, ‘Hi, my name is…’ And before I can even get my f—— name out, this b—- is like, ‘Diet Coke.’”
She adds that it makes her want to give them a regular Coke out of spite.
“Be patient, babe,” Kiley exclaims. “I will get your drink order. Just let me say my name.”
Her second “ick” had to do with refills on a certain popular drink order: strawberry lemonade.
“I already f—— know that I’m about to get 45 of these strawberry lemonades, and it’s gonna be a $2 tip or $0,” she says, adding that she sometimes wants to tell them the drink isn’t available just to avoid the hassle.
Her last point was about serving couples, specifically when the woman seems insecure.
“I do everything in my power to make her feel comfortable,” Kiley says.
She continues, “I compliment her; I just look at her. I don’t even acknowledge her man.”
However, according to Kiley, some women still have an “attitude” about it, which usually results in low tips.
She closes by asking her viewers to share their own “icks” in the comments.

Commenters Were Unkind
Many commenters didn’t appreciate her honesty.
“My biggest ick is servers who complain about their job,” one person wrote.
Another added, “Please don’t give someone who asks for Diet Coke a regular Coke. They could be diabetic.”
Others, however, sympathized with her. “The ones disagreeing with you in the comments are the guilty ones!!!” one viewer said.
Some fellow servers even joined in. “Ordering water for the whole table and no one actually drinks it…,” one person shared.
