The legend of Andy King grows like a line of impatient well-to-do millennials from the Lower East Side at Fyre Festival waiting for sad sandwiches. Andy, who stole the show in the Netflix documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened for his selflessness of a saint, reveals more about his Team Player of the Year moment and says that Billy McFarland contacted him recently.
Fyre Festival creator Billy McFarland is currently residing in the Federal Correctional Institution, Otisville (FCI Otisville). In October, the 26-year-old “entrepreneur” was sentenced to six years in prison for defrauding investors and ticket holders for Fyre Festival, plus selling $100,000 of fake tickets to exclusive events.
McFarland pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud for ripping off $26 million from Fyre Media investors, which is roughly the same amount a Manhattan judge ordered him to forfeit. He also pleaded guilty to making false statements to federal law enforcement. McFarland’s release date is September 1, 2023.
Despite being in prison, McFarland has reached out to his old buddy. Andy gave an interview to Andy Cohen on Sirius XM and revealed that he doesn’t despite McFarland. “He reached out last week from jail,” King said.
Despite McFarland’s sham Fyre Festival that forced Andy to retreat from the Bahamas like an overthrown despot, King doesn’t harbor ill feelings to McFarland and has “mixed emotions” about him. “I need to work it through in my mind,” King explained. “I see the best in everybody, it’s just who I am and that’s why the world is embracing me, but that can get you into trouble every once in a while, I.E. Fyre.”
“When I watch the documentary, first of all the PTSD was enough to kill me, and then secondly to see him launching into another scam broke my heart,” Andy said of McFarland. Andy said he would be open to visiting McFarland in prison, which would be spot-on branding for the do anything for the living, breathing “Take One For The Team” meme. “His girlfriend wants to take me up to see him.”
These days, Andy is doing better than the Fyre Festival time because he is being offered cameos on projects such as Fyre Festival spoof by The Lonely Island and Seth Rogen and maybe getting his own TV show.
Andy also provided some more details about his iconic scene from Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened that made him instantly famous. Andy is best known for telling his story of how he was willing to perform oral sex on a customs official to procure four 18-wheeler trucks filled with Evian water. “I got to his office, fully prepared to suck his d*ck,” Andy says in the doc.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, King said that he was extremely proud of his selflessness. “At the end of the day, I demonstrated something which was: You know what? Sometimes you’ve gotta do whatever you’ve gotta do to get the job done,” Andy said. “In today’s culture, it’s hard to find people that are gonna go that extra mile to get something done properly. I think that really resonated with so many people.”
Andy elaborated at just how much he was ready to put his mouth where his money was. “I did mouth exercises in the car all the way across the island,” Andy admitted. If we all had friends such as Andy King.
