Last week on November 11, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition rolled out, hitting various gaming platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Given the legendary status of the long-running franchise, which first debuted in 1997 with the original Grand Theft Auto, the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — which includes Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) — was suspiciously uneventful. That is perhaps due to the fact that early reports and reviews indicate that the remasters are full of bugs and glitches.
Nevertheless, the return of Grand Theft Auto is a story in the gaming community all the same, as fans have taken to Twitter to share some of the gnarliest deaths they’ve experienced while playing the games throughout the years, resulting in one of the truly funniest Twitter threads you’ll find.

The issues with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will likely only further exacerbate calls for Rockstar Games to stop dragging their feet and finally finish Grand Theft Auto VI, which would mark the first *new* game in the franchise since 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V. While we wait, though, go out and see if you can create your own hilarious death in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition and add it to that glorious thread.
