Most Home Depot employees expect to help customers with home improvement projects, plumbing issues, or maybe finding the right paint color.
They probably don’t expect to get pulled into a hypothetical murder scenario involving body disposal and freezer capacity.
But one worker took the whole “customer service first” motto to an entirely new level.
Home Depot Customer Asks Worker Scary Question
In a viral video with more than 580,000 views, customer Jake (@jakecherryyy) approached a Home Depot worker with a dark question that would make anyone’s skin crawl.
“Theoretically, if I had a couple bodies to dispose of, how many do you think would fit in this freezer?” he asked.
Instead of reacting with fear or calling security, the employee treated it like any other product question.
“How big are the bodies?” he asked.
When told one is about 6 foot 1 and the other 5 foot 9, he shook his head.
“Well, sir, this is not gonna work for you because it’s counter depth. You’re gonna have to choose something else. Probably like a chest freezer.”
When Jake suggests he might be able to store just the heads in the smaller freezer, the employee surprisingly says, “Well, wrap them up. It’s gonna be messy.”
The Strange Conversation Didn’t End There
“You don’t happen to know where the shackles are, do you?” Jake continued alluding to holding people against their will.
Without missing a beat, the employee directs him to “hardware, aisle 15.”
The exchange ends with a polite “thank you” and “you’re welcome,” as if they’d just discussed refrigerator features for storing actual food.
Home Depot’s Customer Service Reputation
The employee’s willingness to play along with such an outrageous hypothetical actually aligns with Home Depot’s reputation for good service.
Consumer Affairs reviews consistently praise Home Depot staff for their exceptional customer service, with customers frequently noting how employees “went above and beyond” to help solve problems.
Recent reviews highlight workers who take extra time to help customers find hard-to-locate items, managers who personally resolve complex issues, and staff members who show genuine concern for customer needs. One reviewer specifically praised an employee for taking them to find exactly what they were looking for, saying, “I would have left the store frustrated” without that help.
Of course, not every review is five stars. Some mention long wait times and inconsistent service.
