Little-Known 37-Year-Old British Actor Scott Rose-Marsh Reportedly Screentested To Be Next James Bond: Here’s What We Know

The first James Bond movies under Amazon’s ownership has begun to take shape this summer, as Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve was tapped to direct the project, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight was hired to write the script. Now, the first concrete casting news has come out, but it involves a name most movie/TV fans have never heard of: Scott Rose-Marsh.

While *not* casting a movie star as James Bond is certainly nothing new, the 37-year-old Southampton, England-born actor — who is also, it’s worth noting, a redhead — would represent an extreme swing into giving the part to an “unknown.”

As of 2025, Rose-Marsh has just six film credits and three television credits to is name. He most recently appeared in a pair of projects in 2022: the second and final season of the BBC One comedy series The Outlaws and the film Wolves of War.

Prior to beginning his acting careet, Rose-Marsh was born in Southampton in 1988 before eventually graduating from The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology and taking on a job at a call center. Rose-Marsh left the call center job after landing his first role in the film Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot, which released in 2020.

In case that doesn’t illustrate just little-know Scott Rose-Marsh is, perhaps this will: there are no photos of him on Getty Images, the website that curates photographs from all over the world and is used by many of the websites you use every day.

Little-known English actor Scott Rose-Marsh reportedly had a screentest for James Bond role

“According to a well-placed source close to the production, Scott Rose-Marsh — a 37-year-old redheaded actor whose biggest credits are Krays: Code of Silence and Wolves of War — was brought in sometime in late June to read sides from 1995’s GoldenEye, presumably for just-hired director Denis Villeneuve. He might also have tackled pages from the script Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is said to be whipping up for Bond 26.” [via The Hollywood Reporter]

The report indicates that during his alleged screen test, Rose-Marsh was apparently given just one simple instruction: don’t impersonate a previous James Bond performance.

When acclaimed Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve was announced as the director of Bond 26 earlier this summer, reports had indicated that Jacob Elordi (Saltburn), Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Harris Dickinson (Babygirl) were the favorites for the part, with Amazon reportedly looking for an actor around or under the age of 30.
