With the exception of movies like Traffic and Requiem for a Dream, I usually find it hard to resist the urge to indulge in the same substances as the characters in whatever movie or show I’m watching. For example, I had to repeatedly stop myself from smoking cigarettes inside and drinking Manhattans for lunch while watching Mad Men, just like I have a difficult time not gorging myself until my stomach explodes while watching Seven.
As a result, it can be difficult to make it through an episode of Game of Thrones without popping open a bottle of wine at some point and getting as tipsy as Tyrion does. I haven’t had the chance to try the show’s official vino, but I’ve paired a few episodes with beers from the series Ommegang has put out to pay tribute to the show that have complemented it quite well.
However, there’s about to be one new player in the Game of Thrones alcohol game that could shift the balance of power.
According to Winter Is Coming, Johnnie Walker is gearing up to release a “White Walker” scotch in the fall ahead of the final season of Game of Thrones, which is currently rumored to kick off at some point in the spring of 2019. The company announced the upcoming release with a video on Twitter, but details concerning what makes this different than their other variations appear to be as scarce as Valyrian steel.

The White Walker label will be the first spirit officially connected to the show, although one enterprising fan of both fantasy and hard alcohol previously designed some pretty dope labels based on a similar concept.
I know it might be a sin to drink scotch on the rocks, but I can’t think of a more appropriate way to consume this.
