A tweet saying “I wanna live in Gotham City” has gone viral after people started posting hilarious memes of what it would actually be like to maintain a residence in the infamously crime-ridden city.
From jokes about Batman breaking your leg for stealing soda with a water cup to Joker blowing up buildings to Scarecrow spiking the city’s water with drugs, the reality of what it would be like to live in Gotham City is equal parts grim and hilarious.
Given there are so many hilarious jokes out there, I’ve decided to organize them by which character they’re referencing.
Joker, of course, would be the biggest problem in the city.

The Scarecrow jokes might be my favorite, with most of them being about the stunt he pulled in 2005’s Batman Begins.

Riddler is getting tons of attention too, likely due to his featured role in 2022’s The Batman.

According to recent rumors, the sequel to The Batman, apparently titled The Batman: Part II, will begin production sometime in the spring of 2024 ahead of its October 2025 release date. Further rumors indicate that, in addition to the likes of Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright reprising their roles, Clayface will play a role in the film.
Prior to the release of The Batman: Part II, though, the Farrell-starring spin-off series The Penguin — which takes one week following the events of The Batman and Penguin’s rise to power after the death of mob boss Carmine Falcone — will be hitting Max sometime in 2024.
