UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione screamed something about being “an insult to the intelligence of the American people” as he was dragged into court. While he was doing so, he was strongly restrained by cops as he struggled with them on Tuesday.
Mangione, 26, was manhandled by at least three deputies, with at least one grabbing him by the neck and the others pushing him up against a wall, as he made his way into the Blair County Courthouse for his extradition hearing.
As he struggled with the officers, he could be heard shouting at the assembled media, “It’s completely out of touch!” It is unclear, however, if that is exactly what he said as some reports claim he said, “This is completely unjust!”
Following either outburst, Luigi Mangione added something about it being “an insult to the intelligence of the American people! This is lived experience!”

Local defense lawyer Thomas Dickey, who is expected to represent Mangione, according to the Associated Press, declined to comment before the hearing.
In papers discovered in his backpack at the time of his arrest, Mangione allegedly wrote, “Frankly, these parasites had it coming.” He also reportedly called “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski a “political revolutionary.”
Monday night, the family of Luigi Mangione, released a statement stating how “devastated” they are through the suspect’s cousin, Maryland state delegate Nino Mangione.
Mangione was initially charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police. He now faces extradition to New York City where he will be tried on charges of second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second-degree, criminal possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of a weapon in the third-degree.
