At the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once took home most of the major awards it was up for and — combined with the cast’s incredible speeches — therefore made most of the headlines, too.
Not all of the headlines, unfortunately, have been positive, though, as there has been a bit of backlash to the fact that Mark Wahlberg presented the cast with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
The reason for the vitriol, of course, is because the 51-year-old actor was infamously convicted of assaulting two Vietnamese-American men back when he was 16. According to reports, Wahlberg — high on PCP at the time of the assault — hit one of the victims in the head with a stick and punched the other in the face, all whilst using racial slurs.

Following the film’s domination at the SAG Awards, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once is now the prohibitive favorite to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Additionally, Ke Guy Quan is the favorite to win Best Supporting Actor, while the same can be said about Michelle Yeoh in the Best Actress category.
In addition to Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, the other nine nominees for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards are Top Gun: Maverick, Tar, The Fabelmans, The Banshees of Inisherin, Avatar: The Way of Water, Women Talking, Triangle of Sadness, All Quiet on the Western Front, and Elvis.
