Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk are still pretending as if they’re going to fight each other, with Zuck being the latest to take a swing at Musk in the court of public opinion.
It’s taken a truly heroic effort by Musk, but he’s somehow managed to make Zuckerberg seem like something of a tough guy as the 39-year-old Facebook creator fired shots at the ower of “X” over the weekend, saying that he hasn’t heard back from him and that his zombie Twitter platform isn’t reliable enough to stream the fight (which, again, will never happen).
“I’m ready today. I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed. Not holding my breath,” Zuckerberg said on Threads over the weekend. “I love this sport and will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.”
He then took a shot at the app formerly known as Twitter, which Musk recently rebranded as X in a move that analysts say wiped away anywhere from $4 to $20 billion in brand value.
“Shouldn’t we use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity?” Zuckerberg captioned a Thread with a photo of Musk’s tweet saying that the fight will be “live streamed on X.”
Musk spent the weekend similarly running his mouth, as he shared a video of him curling a 45-pound weight while saying that “if the fight is short, I probably win” but “if long, he [Zuckerberg] may win on endurance… I am much bigger and there is a reason MMA has weight divisions.”
A mere few hours later, however, Musk built in a caveat, saying that the exact date of the bout is “in flux” because he’s “getting an MRI of my neck and upper back” this week and “may require surgery before the fight can happen.”
Interesting how these major bodily issues arise at the most inconvenient of times.
