Miss Texas Margana Wood didn’t win the Miss America Pageant on Sunday night. That honor went to Miss North Dakota Cara Mund. However, Wood might have had the most memorable moment during the pageant. At least according to hundreds of people on social media.
During the Q&A portion of the pageant, judge Jess Cagle asked Wood to comment on President Trump’s response to the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“Last month a demonstration of neo-Nazis, white supremacists and the KKK in Charlottesville, Virginia turned violent and a counter-protester was killed. the president said there was shared blame with “very fine people on both sides.” Were there? Tell me yes or no and explain.”
Wood’s response was short, very much to the point, and elicited loud cheers from the crowd as well as numerous props from the internet.
“I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious, that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should’ve made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the number one issue right now.”
