What consistently cracks me up on lists of ‘Most Popular Names’ for people is how the lists are constantly full of obnoxiously trendy names. The parents always think they’ve come up with something new and unique when in reality Liam, Noah, Grayson, and Jackson are as basic as they come. But when it comes to pet names we tend to see more traditional names. These are names often reserved for dogs (or cats), and they’re not always gender specific but they usually are.
The Daily Treat (a Rover blog) released their annual list of the most popular dog names. Below, I’ve included a Top 10 for the Most Popular Male Dog Names Of 2017 as well as the Most Popular Female Dog Names Of 2017. Over on the Rover, they’ve actually put together data on the top 100 names. So if you’re pet’s name isn’t in the Top 10 then chances are you’ll still find it on the list of Top 100. This is a much better list of names. Rocky, Bear, and Duke are all solid names for male dogs but 1-to-10, all of these female dog names are solid. By the way, the data for this came from Rover, the largest network of dog walkers in the United States.
