Before I say anything, I highly recommend you cue up the Star Wars theme song in order to maximize your enjoyment of this post. There’s no better way to get the full Star Wars experience than to have John Williams’ legendary score playing in the background as you scroll down this page. If you’re not able to play the music, just hum it to yourself. I promise you it will be worth it.

It’s safe to say November has been a great month for Star Wars fans. The trailer for The Last Jedi dropped last week, and today Disney revealed they’re planning on making a brand new trilogy that will dramatically expand the Star Wars universe.

Deadline got the inside scoop on what lies in store and revealed the few details we already know about the upcoming movies:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson has been set by Disney and Lucasfilm to write and direct a trilogy of films that will fall under the Star Wars brand but will be a completely new story, with original characters, set in a different galaxy.

There’s currently no information on when the first film will be released, but it’s likely that it will debut after the as of yet untitled ninth installment of the series that is scheduled to be released in December 2019.
