During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, actor, writer and producer Seth Rogen revealed that he’s been essentially blacklisted from presenting at the Emmy Awards. Rogen believes it stems from comments he made while presenting in 2021.

Seth Rogen was referring to when he presented an award in 2021 and went off-script to criticize the Emmy Awards for lying about the health and safety protocols that they put in place.

Seth Rogen thinks the Emmy Awards have blackballed him from presenting due to comments he made in 2021

“I do have that theory. I presented there, I think it was, four years ago at this point, and I have not been invited back… They were outwardly pissed off at me afterwards, the producers,” Rogen said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

While presenting in 2021, Rogen took to the stage and deviated from the script by openly criticizing the Emmys for seemingly lying about the health and safety protocols they put in place to combat COVID.

“Let me start by saying there is way too many of us in this little room. What are we doing? They said this was outdoors. It’s not. They lied to us. We’re in a hermetically sealed tent right now. I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof?” Rogen said in 2021.

“I’ve been blacklisted,” Rogan told Kimmel during the interview this week. “I’m like you. They’re trying to silence me. You can’t win. You try to speak truth to power. … I get it. I went very off-book and made them look bad. So, I get that.”

Despite seemingly being barred from presenting, Rogen was in attendance at the Emmy Awards this year anyway and was on the stage plenty, as his AppleTV+ comedy series won 13 Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Rogen, making it the most-awarded single season of a comedy series in Emmy Awards history.
