Shannon Sharpe’s makeup on the Monday episode of First Take was such a disaster that the Pro Football Hall of Famer had to put out a statement.
On Monday, sports fans tuning into ESPN noticed that Sharpe’s makeup was so extreme that photos of him went viral, with one even saying that he looks like a “mean lunch lady.”

In addition to the lunch lady cracks, Sharpe also found himself being compared to Randy Jackson, Orlando Jones, Little Richard, Ving Rhames from Holiday Heart, and a California Raisin.
Apparently getting wind of the jokes about him, Sharpe took to Twitter to release a statement about the matter.
“Appreciate the concern over my makeup this morning on First Take. This was her 1st time doing my makeup and it was a little heavy. My appearance is important not as important as my takes. Hopefully, the takes were gr8 [sic] as usual,” Sharpe tweeted on Monday afternoon.
The 55-year-old former Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens tight end also came to the defense of the makeup artist when one Twitter user suggested she’d lose her job.
“No she isnāt [finished]. Sheāll get better with my makeup. Isnāt the end of the world,” Sharpe said. “Iāll live and still extremely blessed.”
Sharpe began co-hosting First Take on ESPN with Stephen A. Smith a few months ago after spending the previous seven years at Fox Sports 1 appearing on Undisputed with Skip Bayless.
Drafted out of Savannah State in the 7th round of the 1990 NFL Draft, Sharpe would go on to become one of the best tight ends in the history of the NFL, as he won three Super Bowls and was named to four first-team All-Pro teams and eight Pro Bowls.
Sharpe will be appearing onĀ First TakeĀ on Tuesday, as well, so it’ll be interesting to see whether or not the makeup artist makes the necessary tweaks.
