Suge Knight, one of the people who knew Tupac Shakur best, revealed that the legendary rapper told him that he was talking about faking his own death. This is one of the shocking revelations in a brand new documentary by the director of the movie Training Day.
On Friday, Showtime aired American Dream/American Knightmare, a new documentary by filmmaker Antoine Fuqua. The Hollywood director of movies such as The Magnificent Seven and The Equalizer got exclusive access to Marion “Suge” Knight from December 2011 to November 2012. At one point during the no holds barred interview, Suge divulged that Tupac had talked to him personally about faking his own death.
“We was in Maui, you know what I mean, and Pac had, like, never been to Maui. And he get to talking about faking his own death,” The Death Row boss claims. “And Pac was more down for doing, like, the… the… the last little videos and sh*t of him dying all in the white, you know what I’m saying, with Redd Foxx and everybody like that.”
The all-white outfit Suge is talking about could be Pac’s music video for the song I Ain’t Mad At Cha which was filmed just weeks before his death. The video features Shakur as an angel in heaven wearing a white suit and then returns to Earth as a spirit.
Suge said Tupac acted bizarrely in the filming of I Ain’t Mad At Cha:
“He was cussin’ everybody out. With this particular video, he was like, ‘Man, what’s up, right?’” And I felt like, he talkin’ about this sh*t, and our dreams and our future is built together because we plannin’ on doing, so if you talkin’ about not bein’ here, losing your life, and doin’ all these muthaf*ckin’ videos where you dead and sh*t, I’m like, sh*t… if somethin’ really happen to you, I ain’t gonna be that muthaf*cka there with tears in my muthaf*ckin’ eyes, I’m gonna be that muthaf*cka like, sh*t, still pushin’ for you.”

In November of 1993, Shakur was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room. Shakur denied the charges, but he was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse and sentenced up to four and a half years in prison. In October of 1995, Shakur’s assault case was on appeal, but he did not have the $1.4 million bail. Allegedly, Suge offered Tupac the bail money, but in exchange, Tupac would have to release three albums under the Death Row label. Shakur agreed and the major music contract was signed on a napkin at the Clinton Correctional Facility. Following his release from prison, Suge took 2pac on a trip to Maui, Hawaii. That is allegedly when Shakur pitched the idea of faking his own death.
This isn’t the first time that Suge floated the idea that Tupac faked his own death. In a 2014 interview with TMZ Knight said, “Why you think nobody been arrested if they said they the one that killed Tupac? Because Tupac not dead. If he was dead, they’d be arresting those dudes for murder. You know he’s somewhere smoking a Cuban cigar on an island.” There has been reported sightings of Tupac in places like
Only days ago, Shakur’s friend and fellow legendary rapper Too Short revealed that he believes that Tupac is alive.
All Eyez on Me would be released on February 13, 1996, and has since gone Diamond after selling over 10 million copies. Tupac would die on September 13, 1996, at the age of 25-years-old, six days after he was reportedly struck by four bullets in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas following the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
In American Dream/American Knightmare, Suge said his crew spotted “a well-known Compton gangbanger” by the name of Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson in the lobby, who was suspected of robbing a member of Death Row. Anderson, who was a member of the Crips allegedly threatened Tupac.
“I said, understand one thing, you gonna push that line on somebody, it’s some gangbanger activities gonna be involved, it’s consequences with that, you know,” Suge said in the interview. “After that situation, we was on some real ghetto politics right now. You got homies over here, and you got the Crips over here. And you gettin’ everything you asked for: you the best in this rap game, sh*t, now you being the best in this street game. I said, the only thing different, in the rap game there’s a reward; in the streets when you known as the best, you become a trophy. Everybody wants the trophy.”
There is a conspiracy theory that Shakur faked his own death because Tupac knew there hits out on his life because of the East Coast vs. West Coast rap war. Coincidentally, one of Pac’s final albums was titled The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory under his other stage name “Makaveli,” which is the name of Italian war strategist Niccolò Machiavelli who faked his death to fool his enemies to think he was dead.
Conspiracy theorists point out that if you rearrange the word “Makaveli” it spells out “Am Alive K.” Inside the The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory album sleeve reads: “Exit 2Pac, Enter Makaveli.” The album cover features Shakur as Jesus Christ, seeming to hint towards his death and resurrection.
In another part of Showtime’s American Dream/American Knightmare, Antoine Fuqua asks the Death Row boss if he ordered a hit on Biggie Smalls in retaliation for Tupac’s murder. “You know, when you really look at it like I said before, Biggie’s involvement in most of the things I felt that, any involvement he ever had, I felt it was because the next person he was with was pushing the negative,” Knight said. “So he rolled with it. Number one, it wouldn’t benefit me to have Biggie murdered. And second, whatever happened to Biggie, I was in the county jail. So how could I have any involvement or participated in having anything done to Biggie when I’m locked the f*ck up?”
Recently it was revealed that Hollywood actor Tom Sizemore informed FBI agents that Suge Knight was behind the premeditated murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
In September, Marion Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the 2015 fatal hit and run of Terry Carter. This could be a life sentence for Knight, who is 53-years-old.
The week after Tupac Shakur was shot, Suge gave an interview about the shooting and he seemed to present the deadly drive-by shooting as very real and he said he almost died.
