There are basically two explanations of what’s going on here. Either A) I’m older than I realize and there’s some internet inside joke about The Rock being “the guy from Fortnite.” Or B) our world has devolved into such a dystopia that the NFL legitimately thought this was the best way to market The Rock, who’s otherwise known as one of the most famous actors/celebrities on Earth.

In case you missed it, prior to Super Bowl LVI kicking off on Sunday, The Rock, a.k.a. the Guy from Fortnite, took to the field to provide an introduction to the game as he busted out his classic WWE persona that made him a star over two decades ago.

“Finally, the Super Bowl has come back to Los Angeles!” The Rock yelled as he unleashed his trademark raised eyebrow before introducing both the Rams and the Bengals to the crowd.

Maybe it’s thanks to the Hollywood magic provided by the guy from Fortnite that the Los Angeles Rams ultimately beat the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 23-20. Despite losing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a knee injury and trailing to the Bengals for a majority of the second half, the Rams were able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat thanks to clutch play from quarterback Matthew Stafford, defensive lineman Aaron Donald, and Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp, who posted eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the big game.
