Earlier this month we learned that Tom Hardy will play notorious gangster Al Capone in his next movie. We now get our first look of Hardy as the infamous mob boss after Hardy posted photos from the set of the upcoming biopic titled Fonzo.
Capone ruled over Chicago during the Prohibition era, but Hardy’s upcoming movie takes place when the mobster was at the end of his life. The 42-year-old Hardy will play Capone during his last days when the mobster was suffering from dementia as a result of his syphilis. Hardy shared a photo of him as Al Capone holding a white fedora hat with the caption: “Chasing Fonzo.”

Capone was nicknamed “Scarface” because he has scars on his face. Makes sense. Capone had scars on the left side of his face and Hardy is seen with the iconic wounds.

“Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore,” the movie’s official synopsis states. “At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.”
There is no official release date for Fonzo, so while we wait, check out Tom Hardy as a Stormtrooper in a deleted scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and read about how Shia LeBeouf allegedly knocked out Hardy on the set of a movie.
