Hey, it’s happened to the best of us. While perusing social media we see a picture that catches our eye, perhaps one of a sexy model in a provacative pose, and we smash that Like button only to realize we’re using our personal Instagram account and not the burner we keep from the prying eyes of our friends and family.
Now I am not saying that’s what happened with Pope Francis and the fact that his official papal Instagram account dropped a Like on a racy photograph posted by Brazilian model and Twitch streamer Natalia Garabotto, but I’m not saying it wasn’t.
It’s just one of life’s many small mysteries to which we may never have the answer.
Not that the Vatican is taking that sort of stance. In fact, according to the Catholic News Agency, they are launching an investigation into it to get to the bottom of it (pun 100% intended).
The picture “liked” by Pope Francis’ verified account, Franciscus, features Brazilian model and Twitch streamer Natalia Garibotto wearing a lingerie outfit that resembles a school uniform. Garibotto’s mostly-uncovered posterior is visible in the picture. The exact time of the “like” is unclear, but it was visible and reported by news outlets on November 13.
The photograph was unliked on November 14, after CNA asked the Holy See Press Office for comment. An official for the Holy See Press Office declined to comment on the event.
Sources close to the Vatican press office confirmed to CNA that the pope’s various social media accounts are managed by a team of employees, and that an internal investigation is underway to determine how the “like” happened.
Here’s how I envision the investigation going…
Vatican official to Pope Francis: “Did you Like this photo on Instagram?”
Pope Francis: “I did.”
Vatican official: “Okay. Thanks.”
End of investigation.
Garibotto, for her part, had a little fun with the unexpected interest from the Pope’s Instagram.
Brb on my way to the Vatican 🙏🏼

Theres an obvious explanation for that. The pope likes photos of Brazilian models 🤔. Not sure why they need to ask instagram
