There are a lot of people out there who firmly believe Game of Thrones is currently the best show on television, and whether or not you agree with them, it’s impossible to argue anything comes close to topping it as far as cultural supremacy is concerned.

I can’t count the number of shows I’ve eagerly watched that started with a bang only to fall off of a cliff into an abyss it could never escape from (I’m looking at you, Dexter, which canonically ended after the fourth season as far as I’m concerned).

Having a critically-lauded program on your hands can be both a gift and a curse for the people responsible for making it and there are only a handful that have managed to remain virtually perfect from beginning to end (The Wire and Breaking Bad both come to mind).

However, as much as I love Game of Thrones, I’d hesitate to label it flawless for reasons that have nothing to do with an errant coffee cup.

The show caught plenty of flack last season thanks to some shaky writing, questionable pacing issues, and the inclusion of Ed Sheeran (no, I still haven’t gotten over that). Unfortunately, it hasn’t seemed to have fixed all of its flaws and fans seem to have noticed.

Chartr recently took a look at the IMDb rating for every episode of the show, and while it’s not necessarily the best metric to gauge the overall reception, it’s pretty clear fans are not digging the final season of Game of Thrones—especially “The Last of the Starks,” which is the worst received installment of the entire series.

A Reddit user also took a look at the Rotten Tomatoes score every episode has received and the consensus seems to be the same.

If you’re curious, the dip in season five is in relation to the episode in which Ramsey rapes Sansa in front of Theon, which was understandably not very well received.

Here’s to hoping the downward trend reverses before the series end or I have a feeling people will be none too pleased.
