Popular YouTuber WhistlinDiesel, real name Cody Detwiler, is lucky to be alive after accidentally shooting himself in the head with a .50 caliber gun.
The 22-year-old Detwiler, who has 1.75 million subscribers on YouTube, was firing a .50 caliber rifle at steel plates from just four feet away when one of the bullets ricocheted and hit him square in the forehead.
“Not sure how I’m alive rn,” Detwiler wrote on Instagram along with a photo of his bloodied-up face. “I’m ok they’re just doing some scans to make sure I don’t have swelling other than the 2” lump on my forehead and the copper jacket under my skin 😂😂😂😂.”
Yes, he thought it was funny. Of course, this is the same guy who thought it was funny to buy a $54,000 Dodge Hellcat just to destroy it.
He later wrote about the shooting accident, “You look at life a little differently when you pull the trigger of your .50 cal and your head shakes and 🩸 starts dripping down past your eyes. I put my hand up and just felt metal sticking out and about passed out. Got a ct scan to be safe and they say my skull isn’t cracked soo…. back to target practicing!!! 😀 For anyone wondering I was shooting steel plates from 4ft away like a boss to see how many it would go through. Detwiler quickly went back to cracking jokes, posting a screenshot of his story appearing on TMZ with the caption, “I made TMZ 😂😂😂😂😂 I’m gonna have to do this more often.”
Being a YouTuber, naturally, Detwiler also posted a video to the platform explaining what happened.
