Comedian and former Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange was arrested last Sunday after police found cocaine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia in Lange’s possession while he was in his car in the parking garage of his home in Hoboken.
The 49-year-old Lange has a history of drug and alcohol addiction, an illness that has landed him in rehab facilities and unceremoniously terminated his relationship with Howard Stern. Following his stint in a Florida rehab facility to kick a heroin addiction in 2011, Artie claims Stern distanced himself from him, neglecting to return the several voicemails Lange left on Stern’s phone.
Lange’s latest mugshot is a sad indicator of Artie’s current state.

In a series of tweets following his arrest, Artie thanks the Hoboken Police Department for being polite and respectful to him, while also submitting to his struggles.
I wish I could tell u how my story ends. I hope it's being old & smiling cuz of unique memories. But I'm such a flawed person guys. Tryin!

Upon hearing the news, Judd Apatow–who’s executive producing HBO’s Crashing that features Lange–sent out a light-hearted barb that prompted an ominous response from Lange.

Since then, Lange said he’s “doing great” and has “never wanted to live more.” The comedian sent out a tweet that read, “If HBO has to let me go Its my bad! Judd, Pete & u. Thx!” In response, Apatow tweeted: “We would never give up on Artie or anyone struggling with addiction.” Good on you, Judd. Hopefully this will be the wakeup call Artie needs to turn his life in the right direction.
