The other day I said the new one-off Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign was one of the most beautiful cars you will ever see. Here’s another one: the brand new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
Because of course a car created by Aston Martin could never not be beautiful. It would just go against the company’s DNA.
I mean, the cars Aston Martin puts out are just ridiculously good-looking. There’s the 630 hp, 208 mph Aston Martin Limited Edition DB11 AMR, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato family of cars, and even their race cars, like the 225 mph Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, are gorgeous.
So, naturally, the company’s latest creation, the DBS Superleggera is going to be a literal dream car.
As the British marque’s magnificent new Super GT flagship, DBS Superleggera replaces the esteemed Vanquish S. With Aston Martin’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 set low and and as far back in the chassis as possible, and putting out 725PS, 900Nm of torque, it can reach a top speed of 211 mph. Acceleration dispatches 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and 0-100 mph in 6.4 seconds.
The DBS Superleggera also boasts a new rear-mounted ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a F1-inspired double-diffuser which generates 180 kg of downforce at VMAX: the highest figure ever for a series production Aston Martin. Both the powertrain and chassis have a choice of three dynamic modes – GT, Sport and Sport Plus – which can be selected by the driver.
Priced from £225,000 in the UK, EUR 274,995 in Germany and $304,995 in the USA, deliveries of DBS Superleggera are scheduled to begin in Q3 2018.
