It used to be, not all that long ago, that the mere idea of owning a street-legal car with the capability of going 200 miles per hour or more, was pretty much a pipe dream. However, as we have seen with all of the muscle cars, supercars and hypercars we have featured here lately, that’s no longer true. (Though it may cost you a small fortune.)
This is proven by the list below, put together by Road & Track, of 22 cars you can actually buy and drive on the road at 200 miles per hour or faster. Just expect to pay a gigantic fine and/or do a little jail time if you get caught.
As Road & Track points out, the first production road car to exceed the 200mph barrier was the Ferrari F40 in 1987. Fast forward to 2018 and Ferrari sells not one, but THREE cars that can reach speeds of 200 or better.
Plus, as you will see, 200mph street legal cars aren’t only limitied to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the world. Cadillac, Bentley, Audi, Ford and even Dodge all now have cars that can break that lofty speed barrier.
So yeah, if you want a fast car, here are 22 of them that will more than get the job done.
