Chevrolet/Porsche
Okay, okay. Last month when I shared a list of 22 new cars you can buy right now that can go at least 200 MPH it was probably wishful thinking to believe that very many of us will ever be able to afford one of those incredible cars. Dream big and all that, you know?
This is something that the automotive experts who put together that list over Road & Track are also very aware of. Which is why they have also come out with another list of cars that will go over 150 mph that, unlike those supercars we already discussed, are much less likely to send you spiraling into bankruptcy.
1. Audi S4

Audi
The B5-generation S4 could hit 157 mpm while the B6 goes even faster. Plus, you can probably get a B5 for less than $5,000.
2. BMW 540i

BMW
Another 155 mph car you can get for less than $5,000.
3. Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS

Chevrolet
The convertible version can hit 160 mph and even then you can still pick one up for between $5,000 and $10,000.
4. Chevrolet Corvette (C5)

Chevrolet
A base C5 Corvette can hit 175 mph and if you look hard enough you can snag one for under $15,000.
5. Chrysler 300C SRT8

Chrysler
The Chrysler 300C SRT8 can go up to 173 mph for around $10,000. Sounds like a deal to me.
6. Dodge Neon SRT-4

Dodge
The one-time compact economy car top out at 153 mph.
7. Infiniti G35 Coupe

Infiniti
You can get a a clean manual version for around $7000 that will go 155 mph, if you’ve got the stones.
8. Jaguar XJR

Jaguar
A gorgeous Jaguar that can go up to 155 mph and costs around $10,000? Deal.
9. Lexus LS400

Lexus
Very reliable and it can reach 155 mph before it hits the electronic limiter.
10. Mercedes-Benz S600

Mercedes-Benz
The V12-powered Mercedes S-Class was limited to 155 mph, but could reportedly hit 191. Not bad for a car you can sometimes find priced under $10K.
11. Nissan 300ZX Turbo

Nissan
If you can locate an unmodified 300ZX you can usually get it for around $10,000. and it should still reach 153 mph.
12. Pontiac GTO

Pontiac
340 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque for less than $15,000 ain’t bad.
13. Porsche 944 Turbo

Porsche
Finding one of these on the cheap is a little tougher, but there are still a few floating around in the $10,000 range. You just have to look harder.
14. Porsche Boxster S

The S version will reach 162 mph and it won’t cost nearly as much as a Porsche 911.
15. Volvo V70 R

Volvo
300 horsepower for under $10,000? Not bad for an all-wheel drive wagon.
