This is chill news for people who claim marijuana has a much less deleterious effect on society than alcohol (I am one of those peoples. I love alcohol, but boy, is it terrible).
What’s the chill news? Well, compared to other substance abusers, marijuana users were far less likely to beat their spouse. From The Huffington Post:
Researchers from Yale University, University of Buffalo and Rutgers recruited 634 couples from 1996 to 1999 while they were applying for a marriage license in New York State.
They then tracked, over nine years, acts of IPV (intimate partner violence) between the couples. What they found was great.
More frequent marijuana use generally predicted less frequent IPV for both men and women over the first 9 years of marriage,” the researchers wrote. Not only that, couples who both used marijuana frequently — compared to one spouse using it more than the other — were at the lowest risk for subsequent partner violence.
So, there you have it. The key to a successful marriage is mutual marijuana usage. That and communication. But really, mutual marijuana usage
