During an 8K for the Pat Tillman Foundation in San Jose, California, something special happened along the route. Runners stopped in the middle of the marathon to honor 95-year-old veteran Joe Bell, who was watching the race in his front yard. It’s one of the most heartfelt feel-good moments you’ll watch today. He told the reporter recording the video, his neighbor Julia Prodis Sulek: “I never knew there were that many people that would do that…. I never got recognition in my life,” he added.
The video is below. After you watch, head over to Mercury News to read an excellent profile of Bell. He’s truly a member of the greatest generation.
