- Aaron Rodgers recently decided that he would be returning to the Green Bay Packers next season.
- Despite this, the time shipped star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders.
- Rodgers is catching tons of heat for how it all worked out with Adams, arguably the league’s best receiver.
While Aaron Rodgers may be returning to Green Bay, he will be doing so without star wide receiver Davante Adams as the Packers have traded Rodgers’ top weapon to the Oakland Raiders for a first and second-round pick in the NFL Draft.
Once news of the trade became public, NFL fans took to Twitter to crack jokes about Rodgers, who many are blaming for Adams’ departure from the NFC North.
Rodgers: “So you’ll be including me in discussions on major roster decisions from now on?”
Gutekunst: “Yeah, I’m immunized.”

Davante Adams was like a brother to Aaron Rodgers, so this trade makes sense.

In addition to Adams, the Packers are also facing the prospect of losing wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who is currently a free agent. As things currently stand, Green Bay’s wide receiver corps consists of Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Amari Rodgers, Malik Taylor, Juwann Winfree, David Moore, Rico Gafford, and Josh Malone.
To be somewhat fair to Rodgers, Adams did have a previous relationship with Raiders signal-caller Derek Carr, as the pair were roommates together in college while playing at Fresno State.
The Raiders acquisition of Adams is one of many blockbuster moves that’s been made by an AFC West franchise this offseason. The Los Angeles Chargers, for example, added Khalil Mack and cornerback J.C. Jackson, while the Denver Broncos have added the likes of Russell Wilson and Randy Gregory.
It’ll certainly be an interesting offseason for the Packers from here on out, as the decision to resign Rodgers to a behemoth three-year, $150 million deal now looms large over every move they make.
