Prior to the New York Jets game against the New York Giants on Sunday, injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers — who is in the midst of rehabbing the Achilles that he hurt against the Buffalo Bills back during Week 1 — was seen on the field taking drop-back throws, continuing his remarkably quick recovery.
Speaking on Kay Adams’ radio show Up & Adams earlier this week, former NFL offensive lineman and current podcaster Taylor Lewan revealed that he heard Rodgers is currently targeting a December return.
“I talked to somebody the other day and they said he’s coming back in December. That’s what I heard. I think, going back to injuries, people saying Achilles injuries are six to nine months, I would assume he’s not going to play during the season,” Lewan told host Kay Adams.
“If he comes out and plays that’s one thing,” Lewans said. “If he plays and he can stay healthy and can be the Aaron Rodgers we all know and love… that’s where we are literally throwing out the medical book on everything.”

Between now and December 3, which will be the first Sunday of December, the Jets — who currently sit at 4-3 following their overtime win over the New York Giants — have matchups against the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins.
If Rodgers did return in December, his first game back in the starting lineup could potentially be the Jets’ home matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Thanks to their three straight wins against the Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos, the Jets now find themselves in the thick of the AFC Wild Card race. While that may not be where they hoped they’d be prior to the season, it’s certainly far better off than some fans expected following Rodgers’ injury
For Week 9, the Jets will be hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.
