While Aaron Rodgers has yet to face the true test of a live NFL defense, if his statistics out of training camp are any indication, then the 40-year-old four-time is still the same elite quarterback he was before he tore his Achilles in September 2023.
The New York Jets, like much of the NFL, have been in training camp for a full week, and so far, Aaron Rodgers has been lighting up the Jets defense, particularly on Wednesday, July 31, according to Jets beat reporter Connor Hughes of SNY.
“Another one for Aaron Rodgers & Garrett Wilson. A touchdown from five yards out. Aaron Rodgers today: 10 of 12, 6 touchdowns, 1 INT (Quinnen Williams off a tipped pass) Wilson has 3, Breece Hall has 2, and Malachi Corley has 1. A good day for the Jets offense,” Hughes reported.
The three touchdown passes to star wide receiver Garrett Wilson are notable because videos of the QB and QR duo bickering on the field have gone viral in recent days. Both Rodgers and Wilson downplayed the incident, however, insisting that everything between the pair is fine.
"He's vocalizing he was pissed off. I know when we're getting our ass beat, I'm pissed off."

Despite pretending like he was going to return to the field last season for genuinely inexplicable egomania-related reasons, Rodgers will not take any snaps in any of the Jets preseason games as he continues to recover from the injury, according to Gang Green head coach Robert Saleh.
Rodgers will make his return to an NFL field for an official game when he and the Jets head to the West Coast to take on the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers in the first Monday Night Football game of the 2024 season on September 9. Rodgers, of course, tore his Achilles just four snaps into the Jets first game last year, which was also the first Monday Night Football game of the season.
The pressure is certainly on the former Green Bay Packers signal-caller to deliver in New York as the Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, which is the longest drought in American professional sports.
