Buyer’s Remorse: Jets Reportedly Don’t Think Aaron Rodgers Is Good Anymore, Having To ‘Tiptoe Around It’

The New York Jets season has been a disaster since September but all the dysfunction within the organization truly came to a head this week following the firing of general manager Joe Douglas and the circumstances within the franchise that led to his dismissal.

At the center of all Gang Green’s chaos is quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose declining skills and toxic personality has helped accelerate the franchise’s collapses.

One of the major issues that the Jets have had this season, according to longtime NFL insider Dianna Russini, is the fact that the organization has been “tiptoeing” around the fact that Rodgers is simply not good anymore.

So far this season, Rodgers has led the Jets to a 3-8 record while completing 63.4% of his passes for 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. His stats don’t tell the full story, however, as his tape shows a quarterback that can no longer move around the pocket and cannot, or is choosing not to, throw the ball down field.

“This team has been tiptoeing around the fact that Aaron Rodgers is not good anymore. That’s essentially my takeaway from talking to people the last few days about where we’re at and that’s when we began to discover some of the stuff that has gone down over the last few weeks,” Russini said to a slack-jawed Chase Daniel on their Scoop City podcast.

Earlier this week, following the firing of GM Joe Douglas, it was reported that it’s “unlikely” Rodgers returns to the just in 2025 for his age 41 season. Given how Rodgers has looked this season, the Achilles injury he sustained in 2023 and the general PR headache he brings with him, it’s difficult to imagine another NFL team signing up for what the Jets went through this season.

Rodgers and the Jets have a bye this weekend before resuming their 2024 season with a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on December 1.
