The South Carolina Gamecocks are dealing with unwanted speculation surrounding a transfer wide receiver just two weeks out from their season opener.
Ahmari Huggins-Bruce joined Shane Beamer’s roster this past offseason after spending three seasons at Louisville. Representing a return home for the Palmetto State native, he was expected to provide a reliable pass catching option for an offense in transition.
Spencer Rattler is off to the NFL, and LaNorris Sellers is now taking over under center. While many excited about his future, he’s yet to make a college start.
A veteran wide receiver would make his job a bit easier in Year 1, and Huggins-Bruce was expected to fill that role.
At Louisville, he hauled in 80 passes while tallying 1,121 yards and 10 scores. Now, that production is rumored to be leaving the roster before ever taking a snap!
Whispers of Ahmari Huggins-Bruce’s unhappiness in Columbia have begun to surface with just 10 days to go until South Carolina’s first game.
There’s a that belief he’ll transfer back to Louisville to finish out his career.
That would involve jumping through some hoops with the season so close, but it’s being said that the wideout is willing to walk on with the Cardinals.
Louisville insider Jeff Lightsy says someone in Huggins-Bruce’s camp is unhappy.

South Carolina’s OC didn’t do much to quiet the Ahmari Huggins-Bruce rumors.
In fact, he added fuel to the fire!
Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains was asked about the situation this week. He wouldn’t answer. He simply differed to the head coach!
“Coach Beamer will answer all roster questions.”

The deflection only adds to the speculation, providing an unexpected distraction for the Gamecocks ahead of the 2024 college football season.
As of now, Ahmari Huggins-Bruce remains on the roster according to the team’s athletic website. It seems that could change, though!
Will he suit up for his new school or his former when the first snap is taken? It should be an interesting story to follow!
