While I’m of the opinion that there are very few occasions in life where it’s socially acceptable for a grown adult to wear a jersey in public that hasn’t stopped me from becoming an absolute sucker for throwbacks.
My closet is filled with more pieces of old-school sports apparel than I’m proud to admit, ranging from the Hartford Whalers sweater I pull out for special occasions or the XXXL Dikembe Mutombo Georgetown jersey I impulsively bought for $6 on eBay.
We might live in an unparalleled time when it comes to graphic design but there’s just something about the simplicity of jerseys from the olden days that draw me to them— and the Akron Wingfoots are no exception.

If you’re not familiar with the Wingfoots (and congratulations to you if you are), the team was founded in 1918 by workers at the Goodyear factory responsible for producing the rubber soles that would usher in a new era of athletics.
If you can do math, you may have noticed the team is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and to honor the occasion, Goodyear is giving people a chance to get their hands on some old-school cool in the form of a dope throwback jersey.
