The Tampa Bay Lightning moved into first place in the Atlantic Division on Sunday night with a 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Tampa’s goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy has been one of the most crucial elements in Tampa Bay’s dynasty-level success over the past few years and he has grown into arguably the best goalie on the planet.
Andrei Vasilevskiy led the NHL in wins over four straight seasons from 2017 to 2021. And despite winning back-to-back Stanley Cups, leading the league in wins for years (including this season), and winning the Vezina Trophy in 2018–19 there are some hockey fans who doubt his prowess as the best in the game.
This clip below might win over some haters. During the 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Andrei Vasilevskiy stretched out to rob Patrick Kane of what should’ve been an easy goal. Kane didn’t get 100% of his power on the puck and just bobbled enough to allow Vasy to splay out and make the best save of the season. It looks even better in slow motion too. Check it out:

Here is the YouTube version if you prefer watching that instead of Twitter. The Save of the Season from Andrei Vasilevskiy happens around the 4:58 mark in the video:
That insane save from Vasy wasn’t the only highlight of the night. The Tampa Bay Lightning also set a new team record against the Chicago Blackhawks by scoring three goals in just 32 seconds!

Are you kidding me Andrei Vasilevskiy? He's made several save-of-the-season stops tonight. Just had another on Patrick Kane with the glove. Unreal performance by Vasy in Chicago. #GoBolts #TBLvsCHI

These comments from Nikita Kucherov apply to pretty much every game Vasy plays in.
"vasy is outstanding. i always telling him everyday. ‘vasy you’re mvp. you the best player’ then they gave it, whatever the guy in vegas. the vezina. and last year they gave vezina to someone else. number 1 bullshit. vasy took both cups"

Rangers fans can chirp all they want. ‘Numbers prove Shesterkin is better’. I don’t think there’s a coach or team in the league that would take Shesterkin over Andrei Vasilevskiy in the NHL Playoffs if they were able to choose between the two.
Best goalie in the league. Sorry NYR fans. It’s true.

Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Lightning became the 3rd team in the NHL to eclipse the 80-point mark this season as things tighten up with less than two months left in the regular season.
