Angel Reese was heard speaking on her recent transition from the college ranks to the pros. In the process, she nearly threw her former program under the bus!

The rookie suggested that the LSU coaching staff was committing NCAA infractions with its practice routines. An assistant on the staff quickly hopped on social media to clarify.

The comments came as Reese spoke with CBS Sports about Year 1 in the WNBA. While she said she’s certainly seen her ‘Welcome to the league’ moments, she found the transition easier than expected, with much of the credit being passed to Kim Mulkey.

The LSU program, she stated, prepared her for the next level, making her life as a professional hooper much less difficult.

“I think my transition has been great. It hasn’t been a super, big, huge surprise because Kim Mulkey kind of prepared me for this moment. At LSU, our practices were like four hours. We were ready, we were working, I thought training camp was going to be harder, so, I think I was really prepared.”

While the statement came off innocent enough, and was likely a bit exaggerated, some social media followers noted that four-hour practices on the daily could violate the NCAA’s practice schedule guidelines.

An assistant coach corrected that remark in hilarious fashion on X after seeing the interview go viral.

Angel Reese backtracked a bit in her reply to her former coach, saying, “Not every day BUT SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER USED TO HAVE ME DEADDD. But look at me now, I guess it was all worth it.”

Jokes aside, that LSU coaching staff most definitely prepped the rookie for life in the WNBA. In her first season, she’s averaging a near-double-double at 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds a night.

The national champion still has love for her school despite the move away from Baton Rouge. That’s evident from both her praise of Kim Mulkey and this comical social media exchange.
