Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has had an outstanding rookie season and has exceeded everyone’s expectations, probably including her own expectations.
She’s set a WNBA all-time record for consecutive double-doubles, as she’s been an absolute monster on the boards to go along with consistent scoring efforts. But, that all-time best streak was in jeopardy on Wednesday as the Sky took on the Atlanta Dream.
Late in the game, Angel Reese already had double-digit rebounds, but only had 7 points with the Sky leading 72-69 with under thirty seconds remaining in the game. She scored a layup to get to nine points, but still needed another with under ten seconds remaining.
She made sure she got it, drawing a foul and going to the line to make two foul shots with the Sky up seven in what probably was not the smartest possible basketball play.
Take a look.

This isn’t as bad as Ricky Davis throwing it off his own basket to get his tenth rebound for a triple-double back in the day, but it’s not a great look.
That shouldn’t take away from the outstanding run the LSU alum has been on. Wednesday was her 14th double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
In fact, Angel Reese leads the entire league in rebounding at 11.9 rebounds per game, one rebound ahead of Aces supertar A’Ja Wilson.
That double-double streak will continue into Thursday’s matchup with a loaded New York Liberty squad, but many people may be giving it an asterisk after her actions Wednesday.
